Apple Announces It’s Dropping Itunes
Relax, it’s really not that big of a deal.
When Itunes was created, It was a way for people to have access to music and take it with them…legally. But over time, technology has advanced, desktop computer usage has gone down, our smartphones have gotten smarter, and music has become more accessible.
Now, we can download music, TV shows, podcasts, and many other apps straight to our phones. Essentially eliminating the need for Itunes. With that being said, the move makes sense but for DJ’s who use iTunes as a means to organize their library, this sounds scary.
Yes, Apple is dropping Itunes with their next OS update this fall, but this will not change things for DJ’s. Instead, there will now be an Apple Music app where all of your music and playlists can be found. Podcasts, TV Shows, Movies, and etc will be available in their own respective apps. We can’t speak for Traktor, but Serato is pretty good about updating their program when a new OS drops. So to avoid any issues, it’s definitely recommended to wait until Serato gives the OK to update.
