The three time DMC World Champ shook up the DJ world the other day with a tweet that read “ I STILL don’t understand why djs don’t use sync ? … it’s 2019!!!! …. I’m talking about my boys too so no shade …. again … it’s 2019!!!! Please …. Sync is your friend … embrace him”.

This has been a topic of discussion for many years as DJ technology has advanced. Some veteran DJ’s believe that using sync is a crutch that makes DJ’s “lazy” and has caused a bit of a rift between young and older DJ’s.

Craze would later clear up what he meant. By no means was he saying to use sync for beat matching. In fact, he said that if you can’t beat match you shouldn’t DJ because beat matching is an elementary skill, and he’s right. However, Craze does say “Anti sync and anti edm is different … I’m not with just straight cheerleading the whole time but all for making the job easier to get more creative with the actual djing”.

When you think about it, he does make a good point. What about the guys who want to play on turntables, but the pitch slider is off making it difficult to mix? Sync could help with that issue.
